For its 11th exhibition, the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton is continuing its artistic explorations and today endeavouring to take a closer look at contemporary art in Chile. Chile is the longest and narrowest country in the world. 4,300 kilometres long and 180 kilometres wide on average, it is situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes cordillera.
A traditionally democratic country, in its recent history Chile has had the pain of seeing this democracy interrupted by the bloody coup d’état that brought General Augusto Pinochet to power, overthrowing the government in office led by Salvator Allende, the first democratically elected President on a socialist programme. Over the course of its programme, the Espace Louis Vuitton has explored the theme of travel in its multiple facets, offering its visitors the opportunity to discover the diversity of contemporary art from all over the globe. For its 10th exhibition, the Espace Louis Vuitton is investigating an unprecedented aspect of travel – the inner journey. This exhibition, entitled «Confusion of the Senses», is an invitation to immerse in ourselves, to listen to our body and our senses to gain a better understanding of ourselves, and also to better grasp the complexity of the world that surrounds us. It represents an experience to be lived and felt, which overturns our perception and our certainties.(...) |

Easter Island or “Rapa Nui”, located 3500 kilometres off the coast of South America, was discovered on Easter Sunday in 1722 by a Dutch admiral and has since then remained an object of awe and wonder for the world. This tiny 165km² island, one of the planet’s most isolated territories, is the home of a number of immense statues called Moai. These statues are representations of ancestors turned into protective deities of subsequent generations.(...) |

Since the successful hosting of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, which brought the country to center stage of world recognition, Korea has incessantly transformed itself. The Land of the Morning Calm has been the center of economic miracles, technological revolutions, and cybernetic inventions. Open to changes of the mind and in constant evolution, Korea has seen the rise of contemporary artists, who reflect the dynamism of their country. These artistic territories come together, confront and question each other in the Espace Louis Vuitton’s autumn exhibition entitled “Metamorphoses, Korean trajectories”.(...) |

The seventh exhibition in the Espace Louis Vuitton will take its inspiration from the legendary expedition initiated by André Citroën in 1931: the “Croisière Jaune”. Caterpillar vehicles loaded with Louis Vuitton luggage set off along the central Silk Road linking Beirut and Beijing via Damascus, Baghdad, Tehran, Kabul, Peshawar, Srinagar, Gilgit, Urumsti, Suzhou, Liang Zhou. This raid was not only an extraordinary journey, but also a technical, scientific and cultural adventure. (...)

Megapolis by its size and profoundly Russian in its soul, the history of Moscow alternates between periods of greatness and of tragedy, of construction and of destruction. Today, the architecture is still marked by the soviet period, but the city is undergoing a complete urban transformation.
“Moscopolis” exhibition at the Espace Louis Vuitton presented the work of Russian artists who work in Moscow and who are inspired by the identity of their city. Artists who have been exhibiting created unique artworks in real time, at the Espace Louis Vuitton, which became their studio.(...)

The Espace Louis Vuitton presented The Temptation of Space, an avant–garde exhibition devoted to the destination which, more than any other, has nourished human dreams and desires since the dawn of time. The pioneer of the art of travel since 1854, Louis Vuitton is about to embark on a journey to the stars.
Previously unseen NASA photographs recall man's first steps on the moon, to the memory of the Soviet space program, contemporary artists embrace us in their dreams of space: leaves the sun far behind and enters a realm where all is cold, dark and silent. (...)

Ahead of the Louis Vuitton Cup, the Espace Louis Vuitton hosted an exceptional exhibition entitled “Winds and Sails” The Legend of the America’s Cup and the Louis Vuitton Cup. For this, its fourth exhibition, Louis Vuitton will present a vibrant new vision of the yachting world’s most celebrated event. Faithful to the spirit of Marc Jacobs, who, with his artistic genius, knew how to reinvent bags icons of the Maison Louis Vuitton, the Espace Louis Vuitton joined to nine designers and artists with remarkable track records will be paying homage to Louis Vuitton icons. Each creator will be given imaginative free rein with one of the iconic bags of Louis Vuitton.
The links between Louis Vuitton and the arts in this way combine in all senses, going beyond generations and frontiers.

The Espace Louis Vuitton wished for its second exhibition, dedicate it to this country–continent which is India with the point of view of ten artists. The works of various European and Indian artists gathered in this exhibition showed the quick mutation of a country which reveals besides the face of economic and political power on the international scene. Louis Vuitton has a long association with India, it was during the 1920s that the celebrated malletier began to enjoy the custom of some of the leading princely families. |
