A city lifeline is where the action begins and energy ignites, acting as a power surge to conjoining streets and beyond. These main pathways are where movement and growth of a city converge, connecting people, and expanding culture throughout the rest of its surroundings. Located between the Constitucion and Monserrat barrios, east of Buenos Aires in Argentina, the Avenida 9 Julio's name honours the country's Independence. From afar, the Avenida appears as a banner of headlight white, and tail light red. Each car almost cellular, people barely noticeable, crossing paths is a matter of timing and velocity. During rush hour, the length of the stretch can take up to an hour and a half by car. Photographer Jens Boldt has sought to capture the poetry found in the confrontation of such drastic scales: Obelisk against avenue, individual against lanes, lanes against highways. From a more local angle, buildings are a reminder of the French capital and often confirm the expression of Buenos Aires as the "Paris of South America".
